Once the operation is complete, hit the 'Esc' key to exit the DOS environment and power down your system.Anyone else come across these drives, I'm beginning to think they cannot be changed? I've tried almost everything and keep getting errors. Continue with the prompts by pressing the 'Y' key until Secure Erase is finished. Once the command is executed, you will be brought back to the FreeDOS Utility to continue onward. If that command yields a distorted screen try segui0 /s (type a space then /s). If you are placed into a black DOS screen Samsung SECERASE with a blinking cursor, you need to enter the syntax command 'SEGUI0' (that is a zero). ![]() After the Power Cycle has been completed, the program will allow you to continue. If you receive a message saying that your drive is in a "frozen state", you will have to perform a Power Cycle (which is disconnecting the SSD from both data and power ports, waiting 3 - 5 seconds, and reconnecting the drive to the ports again). At that point the application will scan for your SSD and allow you to choose it once scanning is complete. You should enter Samsung SSD Secure Erase Utility, will display a warning message. "Power on your machine and ensure to boot from the Bootable media by entering your BIOS or accessing your boot sequence. WOW, so I never got Parted Magic to work for me but thank god Samsung Magician Secure Erase worked after about 4+ hours working on it over the span of two-nights.Ĭlick to expand.I got it from an email form Samsung Support sent me a while back: Maybe SEAN can update his guide with this? All this info was basically scattered over google but it would be nice to have this in his ERASE guide so people who have Widows 8 trying to use Samsung Magician won't have any issues!!!!!!!!!!! It should make you reaccept the 2 things you agree to before by hitting 'Y" and then it should detect and erase the unfrozen SSD this time. ![]() Here type AGAIN (don't type segui0.exe like it says! It will just take you back to the mainscreen to hit "Y" but NONE Of the text will be legible!!!!!) : It prompt you to hit 'any key" and return you back to the DOS screen. It will then scan your disks and then ask you again to hit "Y" if you accept to use secure erase.įinally, it may say, like it said to me, that your drive is frozen, so it will ask you to remove the SATA/SATA Data cable for a few seconds then to reattach. That will make all the text legible and it will ask you to accept the agreements of secure erase via "Y" ![]() please when you see this red/blue weird screen after you boot from the USB hit ESC a few times. Well if anyone is google searching this or has a Samsung Drive and tries to use Samsung Magician but then realizes they have Windows 8 or 10 and have to create the USB installer (And if Parted Magic doesn't work for you). WOW, so I never got Parted Magic to work for me but thank god Samsung Magician Secure Erase worked after about 4+ hours working on it over the span of two-nights. Somehow might last stick said successful apparently.Ĭlick to expand.Thank you sir. I just tried to make the USB bootable Samsung magician and it took like 5 tries because my 3 other USB sticks yielded "read/write errors". The only way to get the M.2 NVMe to work as a bootable drive and load Windows was to disable CSM (Compatibility support module) in BIOS and I had a feeling this had something to do so I went in there and enabled it and set one of the "OpROM" options to UEFI only, this gave me an option of loading the USB stick and it showed up as USB not UEFI but of course it loads to a butchered red/blue screen with no text and it nothing ever loads. When I click it, nothing happens and it just stays on the Boot Options screen. Upon rebooting and trying to boot off the USB, only the "UEFI: PNY 16gb" option comes up (the USB stick is PNY brand and 16gb). I have an m.2 NVMe Samsung 950 that the OS (Win8) is on that is screwing everything up imo, about to literally rip it out the mobo and just break it with a hammer in my driveway.
